Weight Room

The weight room features rubberized floors for safety. Weight equipment includes:

The REC staff members are trained on the equipment and are available to conduct orientations for students. After working out, feel free to make use of the showers and lockers in the restrooms.


Game Room

The game room has a pool table, a ping-pong table, two foosball tables, and an air hockey table. Pool sticks, paddles, pucks, and balls can be checked out from the equipment station. Board games and a video game system are also available for check-out.


Gym Floor

The gym floor features six regular basketball goals and can accommodate portable volleyball and badminton nets. Other items are available for fun on the gym floor including dodge balls, wiffleball bats and balls, kickballs, and rubber bases.


Membership

Current NOBTS & Leavell Students, NOBTS & Leavell Staff/Faculty

Current students at NOBTS and Leavell, and NOBTS and Leavell Faculty, as well as other authorized members of the Seminary community (faculty, staff, spouses, dependents, retirees, alumni, and invited guests), have full access to The REC and its amenities. In addition, spouses and dependents of those mentioned above also have full access to The REC.

Providence Guest House Guests

PGH guests are invited to visit The REC for free during their stay. All guests must bring their room key with them to The REC. Visitors have free towel service and access to our many activities. Modest dress is required: see policies.

Seminary Trustees and Foundation Board Members

All seminary trustees and foundation board members have full access to The REC and its amenities. Trustees and board members also receive free towel service.

Contract Employees

Full-time employees of Lifeway and River City Cafe along with their spouses and dependents have full access to The REC. Spouses & dependents must request an NOBTS ID card or state-issued ID for access to the facility.

Age Requirements

  • Children under the age of 5 are not allowed in The REC without an adult or authorized family member who has been designated by the parent
  • No children under 18 years old are allowed in the weight room unless they have completed the weight room minor permission form.
  • Adults (16 years and older) have unrestricted access.
  • Parents are responsible for their children while in the locker rooms. Children 6 and older are not allowed in the opposite gender locker rooms.

Check-in Procedure

All patrons must present an ID card or PGH key to the front desk worker for entrance into The REC.

Admission and Access Control

As part of our campus-wide security policies, patrons must have their ID card scanned to access locker rooms, swimming pool, the gym, weight room.

  • A valid NOBTS ID or membership card is required for admittance into the facility.
  • NOBTS ID is non-transferable and may be used ONLY by their owners.

Guest Policy

  • Guests must enter The REC with an NOBTS member.
  • Each person with a seminary ID can have four guests per day. The cost for guest admittance is $3 for a guest pass, $15 for a month. A guest with a month-long pass may come unaccompanied by the seminary student or staff.
    • Note: Methods of payments accepted: student account, cash or check
    • If guests are staying on campus for an extended period of time, the Recreation Coordinator should be contacted to discuss the fee for a long-term pass.
    • Guests have to understand that The REC is not responsible for any damages to the equipment or bodily injuries. Guests and patrons are responsible for any damage or injury that occurs while they use The REC. They must comply with all rules and policies of The REC.
    • Guests must register with the staff on duty. The guest limit is four per ID unless prior arrangements have been made with the Recreation Coordinator. The seminary hosts are responsible for and must be present with their guests at all times unless it is a month pass.
    • Guest passes are to be signed by a staff member and given to guest upon payment.
    • Guest must have an official REC guest pass to use The REC facilities.

Conference Guest Policy

  • All conferences directly affiliated with NOBTS may utilize The REC for their participants during the length of the conference.
  • Conferences, departments or other NOBTS-sponsored events may utilize The REC by showing a state-issued photo ID and room key from the Providence Guest House.
